Spending log, day 12
Today I technically spent about $200 in recurring personal and professional services, but since those are part of an already-defined budget I am excluding them from the “what the heck do I do with my money anyway?” analysis. Instead I’ll focus on the fun and exciting thing I did with almost $30 of my hard-earned money today: SUSHI!
For the last decade or so, sushi has been a weekly luxury I’ve granted myself. It’s good stuff, reasonably healthy and gosh darn it, I like it. For the past three years, I have worked exclusively from home and gotten into the habit of cooking 99% of my meals (instead of the daily restaurant lunches I was accustomed to for most of my career), so this sushi splurge also provided a break from the monotony of meals a la me. I knew it was expensive and unnecessary, but I wasn’t willing to give it up completely when I moved into a lower spending bracket – so I settled on once a month, and chose the last day of April as Sushi Day, just in case I couldn’t make it through the whole month of May. Yep, setting myself up for success here, LOL!
After my last appointment of the day (which I again parked in a less-trafficked area so I could walk to all my stops) I stopped by my favorite sushi place and picked up my two favorite rolls – plus a few hugs, since it turns out things are more special (and easier to appreciate) when they happen less often. How about that? Today’s total: $28
